Hi, I’m Olive (they/them) — a disabled, non-binary trans student, artist, and advocate based in Ottawa.
I’m so close to finally getting an autism diagnosis — something I’ve needed for a long time. After years of struggling with executive dysfunction, sensory overload, masking, and social burnout, I applied for a grant to help me afford an adult autism assessment. That grant generously covered most of the cost — but I still need to raise the final amount to move forward.
This diagnosis isn’t just about a label — it’s about access to accommodations, affirming care, and the validation I’ve needed for years. Without it, I’ve continued to face barriers in healthcare, mental health services, and daily functioning — especially as a multiply disabled and neurodivergent trans person.
Although I’m able to work, my chronic illnesses and disabilities often force me to miss shifts or turn down opportunities — which makes it difficult to afford large, one-time expenses like this. I’ve been navigating overlapping medical needs, burnout, and financial strain for a long time, and this final expense is a real barrier.
If you’re able to contribute — even a few dollars — you’ll be helping me take a major step toward self-understanding, stability, and accessing the support I deserve. And if you can’t donate, sharing this means the world to me.
Thank you so much for helping make this possible.
