Help My Dad Wilson Through Cancer Surgery & Recovery

Hi everyone,

My name is Vivi, and I’m fundraising for my dad, Wilson — yes, Wilson is his first name! 🙂 He’s one of the most loving, hardworking people I know — someone who shows up for others through small acts of kindness and service. Whether it was through his long career in sales, his years of community involvement, or now, helping care for our home and daily routines, he’s always looking for ways to give.

These days, that means waking up with me at 4 a.m. to make breakfast before I head to work, packing lunch for my husband Mickey, feeding our cats, and keeping things running smoothly at home — not because he has to, but because it’s who he is. He genuinely enjoys staying active and taking care of the people he loves.

After many years of hard work, my parents moved to the U.S. from Colombia a little over a year ago to be closer to family and begin a new chapter. Wilson’s plan was to build a small business as a licensed health insurance agent, and he’s been working toward that while also learning English and adjusting to life here. Since arriving, he’s already found ways to serve — regularly volunteering through our local church. Back in Colombia, he was a Rotarian, always involved in community projects and helping those in need.

Recently, our family received unexpected news: my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Thankfully, it was caught early and appears to be contained. He’s scheduled for a robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy on July 14, and while we’re incredibly hopeful, this has been a difficult time emotionally and financially.

We’re fortunate that he has health insurance — but as many of you know, even with coverage, medical care in the U.S. can be really expensive. He already has significant bills from his MRI and PET scans, and we’re preparing for surgery costs, anesthesia, additional surgeon fees, recovery, and post-op care. His business is still in its early stages, and since he’ll be recovering and unable to do much, my husband, siblings, and I are doing our best to support my parents. Still, this kind of expense is more than we can handle alone.

We created this fundraiser to help ease the financial burden — so my dad can focus fully on healing, and our family can focus on supporting him without the added stress. As we receive more details, we’ll continue to update the goal and share more along the way.

If you’re able to give, any amount truly helps. And if not, we’d be so grateful if you could share, send prayers, or leave a kind word for my dad. Your support — in any form — means the world to us.

Thank you for reading, and for standing by someone who has always led with heart, hard work, and service.

With love,

Vivi & Family

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
