Help Moose Keep Moving: A Hero Who’s Always Gone the Extra Mile
If you know David—affectionately known as “Moose”—you know a man who’s never backed down from hard work or helping others. For years, Moose crisscrossed the country as a truck driver, delivering essential goods to keep America moving. Even when health challenges forced him off the road, he didn’t stop serving. He shifted gears, taking on administrative work in trucking while putting himself through school to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
Driven by a heart for service, Moose completed his nursing internship at the VA, caring for the wounds of our nation’s heroes. He never let up—working full-time days in trucking and nursing nights and weekends to support his family, even while managing his own health battles.
But in 2016, Moose’s world changed. After years of managing diabetes, he was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder called Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP). It left him in a power wheelchair for several years, and while remission came, he still struggles with limited mobility.
Most recently, Moose was hospitalized after a foot infection turned septic. Doctors discovered MRSA and a 2nd bacteria in the wound, and the wounds are not healing. He now faces a race against time. If the infection worsens in his bone or he’s unable to qualify for hyperbaric oxygen therapy—40 sessions in total—he could lose his feet. On top of that, he’s seeing a vascular specialist in hopes of improving blood flow and saving his limbs.
Moose has always gone the extra mile for others. Now, it’s our turn to go the extra mile for him.
We’ve set up a fundraiser to help cover his rising medical expenses and the cost of transportation to and from treatment. His wife Beverly is working to take care of him but isn’t working outside the home as of now. Whether it’s $5, $50, or just a share—every bit helps Moose and his family in this critical time.
Thank you for standing with him. Let’s help Moose keep moving.
