Our dear friend and beloved musician, Michael Hurwitz, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Lymphoma Cancer. Lymphoma is highly treatable, and Mike is courageously undergoing chemotherapy, infusions, and continuous testing.
Many of you know Mike as a proud Wyoming native—he grew up on a ranch in Laramie and moved to Alta, WY in 2000, where he focused his time on raising his son, Joey, and building a life full of laughter and resilience. Despite the challenges that come with raising a child, Mike found a way to create a warm home and forge deep connections with friends and neighbors, always sharing his music and his generous spirit with everyone around him.
His love of music, heartfelt ballads of the West, and his gift for storytelling have touched the lives of so many, from local and regional stages to airwaves on Wyoming Public Radio and beyond. Mike’s band, Michael Hurwitz and the Aimless Drifters, has been a cherished fixture in the region for over 25 years.
Mike is facing weekly trips across Idaho, and despite his trademark optimism and resilience, his musician’s insurance doesn’t come close to covering these significant expenses. We’re hoping to raise $60,000 to help Mike with his travel and medical costs so he can focus on his recovery.
Your support will mean the world to Mike, Joey, and those who are lucky enough to call Mike a friend. Let’s come together and help him get back to what he loves most—sharing his music and spirit with all of us.
Thank you for your generosity and caring.
