Hi, my name is Andrés Arenas, I’m 28 years old, originally from Colombia, and currently living in New York City.
Recently, I was diagnosed with acute cholecystitis and had to undergo emergency surgery earlier this week. For days, I had been suffering from severe stomach pain, constant vomiting, and an inability to keep any food down. This forced me to cancel work and stay home, unable to earn a living.
I’m a self-employed worker, which means that if I don’t work, I don’t get paid. When the pain became unbearable, I was rushed to the ER in the middle of the night, where I was told I needed immediate surgery—a life-or-death situation.
Unfortunately, this emergency has brought with it medical and living expenses I simply can’t afford. I had already been out of work for some time due to my health, and now my bills are piling up, especially in a city as expensive as New York. On top of that, I’ve been instructed to take at least a month of complete rest to recover properly, which means I’ll be out of work even longer.
Many kind people have reached out, offering support, prayers, and asking how they can help. That’s why I decided to create this campaign—as a transparent way to receive that support. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference.
Your help will go toward:
• Covering hospital and medical expenses
• Transportation to and from the hospital during recovery
• Basic living expenses (food, rent, essentials) while I’m unable to work
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign with others is also a powerful way to support me.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing by me during this painful time. It’s been an incredibly difficult journey, but I’m deeply grateful for the love and support I’ve received.
May God bless you and multiply your kindness.
With gratitude,
Andrés
