Hello, my name is Maxine Finlay, and I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request for help. My father recently suffered a stroke on February 15, 2025, and while we are deeply grateful that he survived, the road to recovery has been incredibly challenging—both emotionally and financially.
Before his stroke, my father was full of life — fixing watches with precision, solving trivia with ease, riding his bike with joy, and challenging anyone to a good chess match.
He lived a clean and disciplined life in his younger years. He never drank liquor, never even tried smoking. He preferred vegetables and fish, and he couldn’t stand junk food. That’s why it came as a shock to us when he was diagnosed with Myocardial Infarction in 2023.
He was advised to undergo angioplasty at the time, but we simply couldn’t afford it. Eventually, we had to stop his maintenance medications due to lack of funds.
When he suffered a stroke, it led to a ruptured artery on the right side of his brain. On top of that, his kidneys showed a high level of creatinine, and he was also diagnosed with a mild enlargement of the prostate.
It breaks our hearts knowing he took such good care of himself, yet still had to endure all this—without the means to get the help he truly needed.
The left side of his body—his face and arm—has been affected. At times, he seems distressed and forgetful. Though the stroke changed his body, it did not break his spirit.
