As many of you know, I’ve been living with chronic illness for most of my life. However, the last couple of months have been particularly challenging. Since October, I’ve been experiencing recurring episodes that have led to frequent hospital visits. These episodes involve a combination of symptoms including fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, extreme pelvic and leg pain (making it difficult to walk), joint pain, and headaches. Initially, healthcare providers couldn’t pinpoint the cause and unfortunately, my concerns were often dismissed without a clear solution.
Finally, in April, an MRI revealed that I have Stage 3 Deep infiltrating endometriosis, with lesions throughout my pelvis, colon, and both ureters. While it was a relief to have a diagnosis, I continued to feel dismissed, and I wasn’t given adequate pain management, likely because endometriosis is a condition affecting only women. I am scheduled for surgery on July 22nd to address the endometriosis, which I believe has been the source of my struggles for years.
Unfortunately, my health has taken a turn for the worse in the past two months. In May, I had another episode that was accompanied by a UTI, significantly intensifying my pain. I experienced severe shaking and chills, which was quite frightening. I was treated with antibiotics and initially felt better. However, this past Monday, I started having another flare-up and went back to the ER. It turned out I had another UTI, and I was again prescribed antibiotics and sent home. Then, on Wednesday, I received a call informing me that my blood culture was positive, and I needed to return to the ER immediately. I now have a bloodstream infection, and the specific bacteria identified can attack the heart.
Understandably, this is a very scary and stressful time for me. I am reaching out to ask for financial assistance. I have been facing financial difficulties for a while due to my chronic illness, but with the uncertainty of how long I might be hospitalized, I am concerned about covering my bills and having the peace of mind to focus on recovery without added financial stress.
Any support you can offer, whether through sharing this message or making a donation, would be deeply appreciated. I understand that the current state of affairs is fucked up for many, so I sincerely thank you for any help you can provide.
