Protecting Korvin: Our Fight Against a Rare Epilepsy
Hi, my name is Patricia Brion, and I’m the proud mama of an incredibly strong little boy named Korvin — who will be turning 4 years old this July.
Korvin was born on July 20, 2021, and since he was just 4 months old, he’s been fighting a rare and devastating form of epilepsy called Dravet Syndrome. This syndrome prevents him from taking warm baths, go outside to play, or anything that slightly elevates his body temperature.
It all started shortly after his routine baby vaccinations. After his 2-, 4-, and 6-month shots, I noticed something was wrong — Korvin would fall into a deep, almost unshakable sleep for hours. When he finally woke up, his body would seize violently. Doctors were able to find out the diagnosis
Korvin’s condition is unpredictable and dangerous. Some seizures last seconds. Others — like his most recent one — lasted over 36 minutes, requiring him to be sedated and intubated in the ICU. Watching your child go through that… there’s no way to describe the fear. The helplessness. The trauma.
He takes multiple medications daily:
• Fintepla
• Clobazam
• Keppra
• Valproic Acid
• Plus two emergency meds: Clonazepam wafers and Diazepam — though they don’t always work when seizures strike.
Korvin also had VNS surgery — where a device was implanted in his chest to help interrupt seizure activity. It helps sometimes. But we still live day-to-day, moment-to-moment, never knowing when the next seizure will hit.
I’ve had to become his full-time caregiver. That means no steady income, no childcare support, and no room for error. He needs me 24/7..
We are asking for support to help with:
Emergency medical bills and seizure-related hospital stays
Medication and medical supplies not fully covered by Medicaid
Travel to neurology specialists and therapy appointments
Everyday expenses, as I care for Korvin full-time
This isn’t just a one-time emergency — this is our life. And Korvin deserves the best chance possible.
Despite everything, he remains joyful, strong, and full of light.
Every seizure tries to dim that light. But he fights back.
And I’ll keep fighting alongside him — I just need a little help.
If you can donate, share, or even send us love and prayers, we are forever grateful.
Thank you for reading our story.
Thank you for standing with Korvin.
