On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, JR Guadalupe Gutierrez (my dad) was critically injured in a devastating oilfield accident in Texas. A crane incident triggered multiple explosions and fire, resulting in extensive injuries for my dad. Flames directly filled his cab and it’s truly a miracle he is alive today. Additionally, we are grateful that his crew is okay as well. One other crew member had significant injuries and 2 others had injuries as well.
My dad’s was taken by helicopter to the University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He suffered first-degree burns to his face, second and third-degree burns to both hands, 12 broken ribs and a collapsed lung. He had skin graft surgery on both hands and remains hospitalized.
My dad faces a long and painful road to recovery–physically, emotionally, and financially. As a crane operator, he won’t be able to return to work for several months and will require ongoing medical care, rehabilitation and pain management.
Over the past week, we’ve been greatly moved by the love and support from his coworkers, friends, and family. We’ve heard story after story about how deeply he’s cared for, and how his genuine, hard working, hilarious, and caring spirit has impacted the lives of so many. He is someone that always gives to others and we have been asked by many for a way they could help.
First off, know that your prayers, calls, texts, visits to the hospital or checking on him through coworkers has been the biggest support. He feels your love and I know that is what is driving him to be strong in these very hard, first few days.
We are incredibly thankful for the overwhelming love surrounding him right now. This fundraiser is for those who have reached out about additional ways to help. If you feel led to give, any amount will help ease the stress of this unexpected journey and allow him to focus on healing.
We will continue to post updates on his recovery and we thank you for being part of his support system.
Thank you all so much.
