Help Joan Fight Stage 4: Small Cell Lung Cancer & Brain Tumors
We as a family are raising $50,000 to support Joan in her fight against Stage 4: Small Cell Lung Cancer, which has aggressively spread to her brain. Every donation will go toward radiation, chemotherapy, hospital expenses, caregiver support, assisted living to care for her new medical needs, travel costs, and ensuring she receives the best possible care.
Our Story:
Our beloved Joan received the devastating diagnosis of Stage 4: Small Cell Lung Cancer in March 2025. Doctors told us that without treatment, she would have only six months to live. But Joan is determined to fight, refusing to let cancer define her time.
She is currently undergoing radiation therapy for 10 days straight, followed by chemotherapy treatments every 21 days for the next 4 to 6 months minimum. These treatments offer hope, but they come with significant physical, emotional, and financial challenges. She was living independently caring for her own needs, but she is now needing Physical therapy, occupational therapy, nurses to help with medication, making sure her nutritional needs, and wellness is being met.
Beyond being an incredible mother to her three children, Joan has been a mother figure to countless others, offering love, wisdom, and unwavering support to those in need. Her kindness and generosity have touched so many lives, and now, we want to give back to her during this difficult time.
Our family is juggling major travel costs as we support her treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in The Woodlands, TX, and Downtown Houston, TX. Joan is retired and on limited income, making daily expenses, new need for assisted living, and medical bills overwhelming.
Joan’s daughter, KaTrenda, and son-in-law, Henry, are parents to three themselves—managing daily responsibilities, work, and everything life throws their way, all while being Joan’s closest support system in this fight. Their unwavering dedication, despite the challenges they face, is a testament to their deep love and commitment to ensuring Joan receives the care and support she needs.
To further support KaTrenda and Henry, we are also facing travel expenses for Tiffany and Madona, who are making trips to be by Joan’s side and assist with caregiving, emotional support, and ensuring her needs are met. This journey has become a family effort, and every contribution helps ease the financial burden so we can focus on Joan’s health and comfort. Thank you in Advance!
