Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I’m here asking for help because last year I became a full-time caregiver for my husband, Doug. That was Doug a year ago.
Due to his increasing health needs and my role as a full-time caregiver, I haven’t been able to work for the past year. As a result, I’ve fallen behind on rent, among other things.
Last summer, the heat caused our AC bills to be ridiculously high, leading to payment arrangements. I had to make these arrangements repeatedly and ended up with a $1700 electric bill that I paid this month to avoid a shutoff. This is the reason I am now behind on my second month of rent. I’m constantly having to choose between bills, opting to not pay something in order to buy essentials like food or medical supplies.
Over the past year, my husband’s health has deteriorated, and I can’t leave him for long, even for a quick trip to the grocery store. He has end-stage renal disease, is on dialysis, and has started having seizures caused by TIAs. His blood pressure spikes unexpectedly, he’s diabetic, and now he is bleeding somewhere in his upper GI area. He also became a double amputee this last year. I have to pay for his transportation to and from dialysis three times a week, as well as any other doctors or specialists he needs to see. He cannot transfer into my car since the amputations. I just need a little help… Anything you can give would be a blessing, even if it’s just a share. God bless and have a wonderful day.
