Help Janet Fight Cancer and Keep Her Home

My name is Stephanie, and I’m trying to raise emergency and medical funds for my mom, Janet, and me.

In 2021, we both got COVID. I recovered, as it didn’t affect me much. My mom got very sick from it and took some extra time to recover, and we thought it was from the heart condition she has from a 2011 heart attack.

However, months later in August of 2022, she went to the ER, thinking she had heart failure. After some tests and X-rays, the doctors found a mass on her lung. Months of tests and biopsies later, including a hospital stay that lasted between December 23, 2022, and January 2, 2023, it was confirmed my mom had lung cancer.

She started chemotherapy in February of 2023 and has been going since. While her cancer is stable, her quality of life is not. She cannot get out of bed much, as being active causes her extreme breathing difficulties. Along with her cancer, she has COPD, which aggravates her conditions. The past 3 years of knowing my mom has cancer has been the hardest challenge of my life. My mom has been my rock, my best friend, and my biggest role model in my life. I’ve come to terms with the fact that I may lose her soon, but I want to make that transition easier for both of us.

During this period of uncertainty with her health, we have pushed aside other important matters like our property taxes, some bills, and essential home repairs, like getting our HVAC functioning and working. Because of the lapsed property taxes, we may have to move within the next few months. I would rather not put the stress of moving onto my mom.

For my whole life, she has been the sole provider for me. She raised me by herself while working full-time. She always made sure we were fed, clothed, and had stable living. She made my childhood memorable with what we had, and I wouldn’t change it one bit.

However, it is hard for me to be the sole provider. I currently work part-time, which is the best option when it comes to taking care of my mom. I am her sole caregiver and breadwinner for us currently, aside from her fixed income. I do not like asking people for money or help, but I am running out of options. Any and all help would be highly appreciated and will touch my heart deeply.

Any and all donations to this fundraiser will pay for property taxes on our house, medical bills and supplies (her chemo visits, medications, oxygen machine rental, etc.), and eventually basic home repairs.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
