Help J.R. Adapt the Longshores’ Home to Wheelchair Living
Our friend J.R. Longshore has been bravely battling a tumor and cysts on his spine for eight years. Because his mobility has decreased over time, the Longshores need to make some major adaptations to their home so J.R. can complete daily tasks independently. The two biggest needs are: 1) an elevator, so J.R. can access both levels of their home without navigating dangerous stairs, and 2) a roll-in barrier-free shower. The Longshores have scheduled these home renovations to start this summer at a cost of $100,000.
These adaptations for J.R.’s wheelchair are essential—a fall on the stairs could be catastrophic, and certainly everyone needs access to a shower. None of these costs are covered by insurance. As long-time friends, we’ve watched J.R. and Laurel battle so much hardship through J.R.’s five spinal surgeries and often felt helpless. We are offering a chance here to support the Longshores by helping financially with these very necessary wheelchair adaptations for their home.
We are rallying friends and family to help in hopes of paying at least half the costs of the remodeling. Everything raised here goes completely to J.R. and Laurel for this project (less fundraiser’s standard fees.) We seek to support the Longshore family by reducing their debt burden. We want to bless J.R. and Laurel and relieve their worries.
J.R. has been experiencing decreased mobility in his legs and is anticipating another spinal surgery this summer. Having these home renovations completed would aid his recovery enormously. Will you help make the Longshores’ home safe and functional? Any amount helps!
