My name is Etleva Ruçi, and I am a mother fighting for the lives of my two sons.
A year ago, my oldest son was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease that attacks the nervous system and muscles, slowly leading to paralysis and, heartbreakingly, a fatal outcome. After months of hospitals, tests, and uncertainty, we finally got this devastating diagnosis only recently.
Now, my younger son — just 24 years old, a brilliant student who recently graduated in Economic Informatics with top honors — is showing signs that he may be affected as well. He has been working hard to support our family while I stay at home caring for his older brother.
Unfortunately, this disease cannot be treated in Albania. The only hope for my younger son — and potentially to slow or treat my oldest son — lies in specialized clinics abroad, where advanced treatments like stem cell therapy or gene therapy are available. But the costs are overwhelming and far beyond our family’s means.
I have never asked for public help before, but as a mother, I am now humbly reaching out to you — to anyone who can help us save my sons. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to hope, to life, to a future.
Please help us in this fight. We are deeply grateful for your kindness, generosity, and prayers.
With heartfelt thanks,
Etleva Ruçi
