Our dear friend Filippo has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 nasopharyngeal cancer. The cancer has spread to his nose, neck, and lower spine. It’s a devastating diagnosis — but there is hope.
Filippo and his partner Marika, both originally from Italy, live here in Australia with their young daughter, who is still in primary school. When Filippo was first diagnosed, they flew back to Italy to be close to family and seek treatment. However, after multiple consultations with specialists, they were told that the most effective course for his type of cancer would be a combination of immunotherapy, chemotherapy, and radiation — a treatment path that is not available in Italy.
They are now preparing to return to Australia, where this combined treatment is more accessible. But the road ahead is incredibly difficult. Once they return, Filippo will likely need daily hospital visits, making it nearly impossible for either of them to work. They will need to relocate closer to the hospital and purchase a car to ensure Filippo can get to treatment safely and consistently — something they currently don’t have.
If you’ve met Filippo, you’ll know he’s a warm, free-spirited soul who brings light wherever he goes. He’s a devoted dad, always up for a surf or a video game with his daughter, and he and Marika are known in our coastal town for hosting unforgettable gatherings full of laughter, good friends, and incredible home-cooked Italian meals.
Now it’s our turn to support them.
Any donation, big or small, will help Filippo and his family through this incredibly tough time — covering medical-related costs, daily living expenses, and helping them stay together as a family during treatment.
Thank you ♂️
