On June 4th, Rodney was rushed to the ER with severe chest pain and shortness of breath. We quickly learned that he had suffered a heart attack (NSTEMI) and was in severe congestive heart failure — with his heart only pumping at 15–20% of normal function.
Over the next several days, he remained in the hospital on oxygen, IV medications, and underwent multiple procedures. Rodney had a coronary stent placed to restore blood flow to his heart, and was discharged on June 8th with strict fluid and dietary restrictions and a complex medication regimen to help stabilize his heart and prevent another event.
Rodney now faces a long road of recovery and lifelong heart care. His doctors have prescribed several critical medications that will help manage his heart failure, protect his stent, and improve his long-term outcomes. Unfortunately, even with insurance, these medications are expensive — monthly out-of-pocket costs are expected to run $500–$1000 or more, and may fluctuate over time.
This does not include the costs of follow-up cardiology appointments, medical equipment, or the impact of missed work during this recovery period.
We aren’t good asking for help but right now, we need it. Rodney’s heart failure diagnosis is serious and life-changing, and ensuring he can consistently afford the medications and care he needs is our top priority.
If you are able to contribute in any way, whether through a donation or simply by sharing this fundraiser, we would be deeply grateful. Every bit helps and will go directly toward helping Rodney stay on the path to recovery.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and kindness.
