Our faerie ear wearing, tequila loving girl needs our help! We are organizing this fundraiser because we’ve seen firsthand how overwhelming her diagnosis has been – financially, emotionally, and physically. I know she’d never ask on her own, but she needs our help. For those lucky enough to know Cass, you’re aware of what an incredibly strong and kind person she is – someone who’s given so much to our community. Now, it’s our turn to support her.
Here’s where the expenses start to add up:
• Flights to and from Miami for treatment and testing
• Accommodation for both Cass and a caregiver
• Medical bills not fully covered by insurance
• Follow-up testing in Miami every 3 months for the next 2 years
• To support her business operations whilst undergoing chemo and recovery
Below is a message from Cass in her own words:
Hi everyone,
If you know me, you know I’m usually the one organizing fundraisers, not the one asking for help. I hate handouts. I’ve wrestled with the idea of letting my friends start this fundraiser for weeks. I know part of that is pride. But so many of you have reached out and reminded me that sometimes it’s okay to accept help, we need our community, and I am SO thankful to have one.
In April 2025, I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer: mucinous adenocarcinoma. The diagnosis came after an emergency surgery to remove my left ovary and a large tumour (it was 9lbs!!), which alone left me with a hospital bill of just over $20,000.
Although I have health insurance, it’s basic and only covers a portion of my treatment and because I run my own business, I’m ineligible for group insurance plans with stronger coverage.
Excess Funds
We aren’t sure how much this journey is going to cost and I’m not trying to make extra money here. Any funds raised that I don’t end up needing will be donated directly to the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. They support individuals who don’t have a large support system, covering medical fees and other expenses. They also run an incredible Pap Screening Voucher Programme, which is free for all eligible ladies.
How You Can Help
Whether it’s a donation, a share, or just following my journey, I appreciate you more than words can say. I’ll be documenting my treatment openly on my Instagram @casslacelle and anyone who supports this campaign can see exactly how the funds are used.
Your support will help me fight this cancer without the added weight of financial stress and (hopefully) help others too.
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU. Lot’s of love, Cass xxxx
