On June 9th, I had an unexpected medical emergency that required surgery. Because it happened at an out-of-network hospital, the costs hit hard — I’ve already met my deductible and now face a steep out-of-pocket max I still need to cover.
I work in education (which, as many of you know, isn’t exactly known for its glamorous paychecks). My elementary school is currently on summer break, so there’s no opportunity for extra hours, and due to recovery restrictions, I’m unable to work my part-time job for the next six weeks.
