I’m Elena Rumínesik, of European descent but born in Venezuela. Because of the severe political, economic, and social crisis in my country, I sold my home and all my belongings hoping to start over in Colombia. Unfortunately, I was defrauded and left at a charity shelter in Villavicencio—without any financial resources and gravely ill.
My Story and Current Situation
Over ten years ago, I was diagnosed with polymyositis, an autoimmune disease that has drained my savings and taken a heavy toll on my health. As time went on, I also developed osteoporosis, and eight months ago I suffered a leg fracture. My insurer (NUEVA EPS) has not provided even basic X-rays or proper care. The medications I need—such as 500 mg CellCept and 2.5 mg methotrexate—are not covered by the healthcare system, and I have no funds to pay for them. I’m completely alone and have no family support network.
My Goal
I need to raise USD 25,000 to cover one year of medical treatment and medications while I pursue legal action against the EPS to assume these costs. Any contribution, no matter how small, will have a huge impact on my quality of life and my chance to keep going.
Your Support Means Everything
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my story and considering a gift. Remember, today it’s me who needs help—tomorrow it could be someone you love. Thank you in advance for your solidarity and for giving me hope in this difficult time.
