Hello! Thank you for stopping by to read my story…
My name is Amanda, and I am 38 years old and I was recently diagnosed with cancer.
On May 9 of this year, I was admitted to Northern Dutchess Hospital with abnormal uterine bleeding. I was released the next day, May 10, with a diagnosis of adenomyosis and a care plan in place to follow up with a gynecologist to manage the symptoms. I met with my gynecologist on May 13, and an endometrial biopsy was performed due to the ongoing nature of the abnormal uterine bleeding. I received the lab results on May 21 on my physician’s portal system, and the confirmation phone call on May 22, that I was actually dealing with Endometrial Adenocarcinoma with Prominent Secretory Morphology, AKA endometrial cancer.
My care plan has changed drastically. I am no longer taking a maintenance medication with an IUD placement and monitoring for changes. I have now been assigned a gynecologic oncologist based out of Albany Medical Center and I have a full hysterectomy scheduled for July 1.
I will be out of work for 2-4 weeks while I recover from my surgery and losing a month of work is going to seriously hurt my finances as I am also starting to accrue medical bills for the pre-surgical visits. I have been searching for cancer treatment grants but do not qualify for most and am waiting to hear on others.
If anyone is able to donate any amount, I would be grateful for any assistance. Please share this, as well!
