We never thought we’d be writing something like this—but it’s been almost a year since our younger brother, Alex, began living a nightmare.
Just last year, Alex was thriving: working full-time at Amazon, proud of his brand-new car, and preparing to move into his first home. Then everything changed. He was diagnosed with a cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak, a rare and incredibly painful condition that has taken over his life.
He’s been suffering from constant headaches, neurological symptoms, and extreme fatigue. The condition forced him to leave his job at Amazon—and because of that, he lost his health insurance.
Alex has been doing everything in his power to fight for his health. He spent four months at Riverside Hospital, has traveled to Duke University in North Carolina, been seen at the Cleveland Clinic, and consulted specialists in Cincinnati. Now, he’s hoping to be seen at either the Mayo Clinic or Cedars-Sinai in California, where some of the top CSF experts practice.
With no income and no insurance, Alex is now living back at home with our mom, which has placed added emotional and financial stress on her as well.
We’re raising funds to help Alex with:
• Out-of-pocket medical costs, testing, and procedures
• Travel and lodging for out-of-state specialist appointments
• Basic living expenses like food, gas, and medications
• The long-term goal of affording treatment and regaining insurance
Our family is doing everything we can, but we can’t do this alone. Every donation—no matter the size—and every share brings us one step closer to helping Alex reclaim his life.
