On Saturday, May 31st, Adalyn went to an appointment to have her wisdom teeth surgically removed. What started as a routine procedure turned into Adalyn fighting for her life.
At the end of the procedure, the medical personnel that were charged with Adalyn’s care realized that she had aspirated during the procedure, and she was unresponsive to their attempts to wake her up. Basically, her stomach fluids and acid ended up in her lungs.
Shortly after, she was intubated and transferred to Riverton Hospital where it was quickly determined that they were not equipped to deal with Adalyn’s needs, and so from there she was Life-Flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital.
While at Primary Children’s, Adalyn was diagnosed with the following:
Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome from aspiration
Aspiration pneumonia
Cardiovascular trauma causing left-heart failure
Adalyn spent 12 days in the PICU where she received Respiratory Therapy and Physical Therapy, along with cardiac rehab. On June 12th, she was moved to the 3rd floor general care, and on June 13th, she was discharged, but will face weeks of recuperation.
Any funds that are donated will go to hospital and therapy bills, not to mention cover the lack of income that was lost by Adalyn and her parents during her stay at the hospital.
