Help a father heal after a tragic loss

Hi my name is Audra and I am praying for some help for my son.

After the unimaginable loss of his wife to suicide, a devoted father is now facing the darkest chapter of his life—raising four children while battling overwhelming grief and trauma.

He was the one who discovered her in their basement and painfully watched emergency services attempt to resuscitate her for 40 minutes. Since that day, his world has completely unraveled. Two of the children are currently staying with their grandmother due to PTSD symptoms, while their father is struggling to stay afloat mentally, emotionally, and financially.

In an attempt to numb the pain, he turned to drugs—something he had never touched in his life before. When asked why, his heartbreaking response was:

“Because it makes me not feel.”

This man was an exceptional father, a talented athlete, and a dedicated hard worker. He was known for being a loving family member and a loyal friend. He had never used drugs or struggled with any kind of addiction prior to this traumatic loss. What he’s experiencing now is not a reflection of weakness, but a response to unimaginable grief and trauma.

Now, he wants to take his life back—for his kids, for his health, and for his future. He is willing to do the hard work. He’s committed to enrolling in a wellness and parenting course to become a more present, capable father. Most importantly, he wants to enter rehab—a step that could save his life.

While community-based recovery programs do exist, they often have long waitlists—and time is not a luxury this family has. This is an urgent situation. His children need their father well, safe, and supported as soon as possible. Delaying treatment could deepen the trauma they are already experiencing.

But the cost of proper, professional treatment is overwhelming—$30,000 to $50,000 per month—and his family simply cannot afford this on their own.

We are humbly asking for help from compassionate strangers who understand that mental health, grief, addiction, and recovery are battles no one should face alone.

Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward:

Safe, residential rehabilitation treatment

Family wellness support

Counseling for the children

Parenting and trauma recovery resources

To ensure complete accountability, all funds will be deposited directly into the account of his concerned mother.

He will have no direct access to the money. Funds will be used solely for recovery and family support, with care and oversight.

Please consider helping this father and his children get a second chance at life. Your kindness could be the turning point in a story that deserves hope.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting.

If you want, I can also help you with a shorter summary or create a visual graphic for social media sharing.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
