Fundraiser for Patti

On April 27 th, 2025, Patti was taken to Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) after months of not

feeling well. Which, if you truly know Patti, is a true testament to how unwell she was.

Immediate action was needed, and treatment was prioritized.

On May 15 th, 2025, Patti’s diagnosis was received. Advanced stage 4 cancer. Malignant

mesothelioma biphasic type, and advanced Superior Vena Cava Syndrome (SCVS).

This cancer is incurable and inoperable.

On June 2nd, 2025, palliative rapid access radiation treatment began in efforts to shrink

the tumor and relieve the SVCS symptoms. Two of the five treatments in the cycle were

completed in Kelowna and were to be resumed on June 9th.

Unfortunately, on June 8th, Patti collapsed. She was in the end stage of SVCS,

additional clots were discovered, and more veins had blockages. The tumor had grown,

putting more pressure on the aorta with fluid pooling around her heart.

A high-risk life-saving surgery was performed on Wednesday, June 11th by an amazing

team of specialists from four different disciplines that included custom stints to assist in

the blood flow. After 3 1/2 hours of vascular surgery, Patti opened her eyes to continue

her journey of radiation treatment in effort to make her time with us earth side extended

and more comfortable.

The next step is a six-week immunotherapy cycle with the intent of giving Patti and her

family as much quality time at home as possible. These treatments will continue so long

as they are effective.

As many are aware, Patti has been the primary caregiver for two of her young

grandchildren, ages 9 and 7 for the last 3 1/2 years.

Every step possible is being taken to care for the children with their best interest in

mind, while keeping Patti comfortable and safe during this palliative care period, and

into the transition of end of life. However, planning is difficult with so many unknowns,

comes at a cost, and proves to be problematic with the financial means of a single

grandmother.

The funds raised with this Go-Fund-Me will be expended on costs that arise from

keeping Patti and the grandkids under one roof for as long as possible; including but not

limited to materials for renovations required to accommodate new physical needs, any

caregiver costs that may be required and not covered through financial services, and

planning for the future of the grandkids.

With your love, prayers, support, and donations we can help Patti and her grandbabies

with the gift of time and reduced stress during the transition of Patti’s final days.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
