Family in Crisis After Toddler’s Burns

Hello!

First, let me start by saying I am not one to do this, but it’s a last resort. My daughter, who is 3, was badly burned on her right leg and stomach in March. She was unfortunately too close to a fire, and as I went to grab her away, the tip of her sundress caught the flame and it just went up in flames. We rushed to the ER, where they treated her pain, but then they ambulanced us to the closest burn center, which is about 2 hours away. When we got there, it was all so scary for her and us. She was in the PICU for a couple of days until she had her first surgery. They used fish skin to help it heal. From that surgery, we were there for a week. We were rushed up with nothing. We had to go out and buy clothes, personal hygiene items, food, all of it. From there, we were discharged with weekly appointments. We have one car, one income, and two other children. So the 4-hour drives really put a stressor on us in many ways. From there, we had to change her dressing every night. She hated it. She would shake and scream. So after a couple of weeks of that, we were told it’s not healing, let’s talk surgery. We gave it a week, came back, and they said it looks so good! No surgery. We were so happy to not have to have another one. So then we did a couple more weekly appointments, still changing the dressing every night and buying the supplies. At one appointment, we were told, “She needs another surgery; it’s not healing fast enough.” Her third-degree spot was just too deep. It was so hard to hear. So we had about three days. We had to come back up, and she had a skin graft. Another week off work. Another week of buying food and basic ways to survive. We were there for about a week. Discharged. Still had to do weekly appointments. But we got back from the hospital, and to add to it all, we have an eviction notice!!! From being up there and spending all we have just to live and to get her medical supplies and gas. Just all of it. My landlord is not willing to budge at all! So I’m just reaching out to see if anybody would like to help. If not, no worries, it’s tough times for everyone! Thank you so much for your time reading this.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
