Most of you know my sister Beth Galdo Desher, born and raised in Fishtown and now in South Jersey, has been battling stage 4 metastatic breast cancer that has spread to other parts of her body for years now. She was blessed that her first line of chemotherapy treatment worked to keep the cancer from progressing as long as it did, but about a year ago, her breast cancer progressed rapidly and extensively to her liver and all of her bones. She was then placed on her second line of chemotherapy treatment. That treatment is now failing to stop the progression of her cancer too. Unfortunately, in 12 weeks, one of her liver tumors tripled in size. Not sure how she does it, but Beth is a true fighter; she is an inspiration with her positivity and faith.
She found a new line of treatment through Pennies in Action Foundation at the Moffitt Cancer Institute in Tampa, Florida. This new promising alternative treatment is run by Dr. Czerniecki and Dr. Soyano – ER/PR positive breast cancer, having an ESR1 mutation, and using Dendritic Cell Vaccine. Through leukapheresis, the dendritic cells will be extracted from Beth’s blood and a vaccine will be generated for her. Amazing and promising treatment that can help extend her life.
This will require a huge financial burden for Beth and her family as she will be required to receive weekly injections at Moffitt along with tests, scans, and doctor visits. Flights to Florida, hotel stays, transportation, treatment expenses, etc. If possible, please consider donating whatever you can to help ease her stress of finances and allow her to focus on continuing to fight her breast cancer battle like the badass warrior she is…
Thank you all so much for your help.
