Hello, my name is Claudia Perez. I want to start off by saying thank you to the ones who have taken their time to read this post.
I have made this fundraiser because I have a disability called epilepsy. Eleven years ago, I had my first witnessed grand mal seizure and was diagnosed with epilepsy. Neurologists were surprised when they saw my first EEG scan; according to them, the left half of my brain was completely covered by gray matter. I did lose my 4-year-old daughter in a legal battle because of this condition. She’s 14 years old now. I only get to see her 4 days a month if I’m lucky. I’ve been fighting the seizures and the pain for the past 11 years, and now it’s getting worse due to the fact that I have gotten fired from my job once more due to too many seizures. I haven’t been able to keep a steady job for more than a few months to a year because I have too many seizures.
Unfortunately, I have never had medical insurance for that reason and it has all been self-pay. No help from the government with food, housing, or medical help because I am a “DACA baby.”
Because of no job for the past month, I haven’t been able to pay any home or medical bills, and all they do is keep getting stacked up, causing more stress and seizures. My neurologist told me she wants me to do a long-term EEG treatment for 5 days, costing $10k per day. I’m already in debt with my landlord and I have to turn in the key by the end of the month.
If I could get any help from the wonderful community that’s out there, I would be so grateful.
