Help Us on Our Fertility Journey
Egg Retrieval & Surgery in Brazil – Pamela & Jamie’s Story
In 2022, I began experiencing health issues—deep pain during my periods, overwhelming fatigue, and a sense that something wasn’t right in my body. I had always dreamed of becoming a mom one day, but my symptoms were making everyday life and work incredibly difficult. After countless appointments in the U.S. with limited answers—and with health insurance that wouldn’t cover essential tests—I decided to seek help in Brazil.
It took two trips, several MRIs, and specialist ultrasounds (which weren’t covered by my U.S. insurance) to finally get answers. In November 2024, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 endometriosis, a defective fallopian tube, and diminished ovarian reserve.
This news was devastating, but it also brought clarity: if my husband Jamie and I want to grow our family someday, we would need to act quickly. After consulting with multiple OBGYNs and fertility specialists, we learned that our best path forward includes:
1. Egg retrieval
2.Undergoing laparoscopic and robotic excision surgery for endometriosis
3.And possibly pursuing IVF in the future
Unfortunately, none of these procedures are covered by our U.S. health insurance. And while we wish we could wait and save more, we’re facing the reality that time is no longer on our side. So this September, we will be traveling to Brazil again—where I will undergo both the egg retrieval and surgery with trusted doctors at a lower cost than in the U.S., though still a substantial one.
The estimated cost of this journey is around $14,000 USD (R$77,000 BRL). That includes medical procedures, medications, appointments, flights, and temporary living expenses during recovery. It’s a significant amount, and we’re doing everything we can to cover it—but we’ve also decided to open our hearts and ask for help.
If you’re receiving this message, it’s because you are someone we love and trust. If you feel led to donate and support us in this season, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Every contribution, prayer, and message of encouragement means the world to us.
We believe that family is in God’s heart, and we’re holding onto hope that good news is coming soon. Thank you for walking alongside us.
With love,
Pamela & Jamie
