Hello. My name is Michael Witt and I have Stage 4 Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma of the lungs, bilaterally. I was originally diagnosed in 2017 with Stage 3 RCC where I lost a kidney to the disease. Five years later, it came back in my lungs. It has since spread to both lungs. I went through treatment and got every adverse side-effect one can get from the drugs, which led to complications and hospital stays.
After struggling with my mental and physical health this year, I found out that my employer of 16 years voted to eliminate my position as a technology teacher and I will be losing my medical benefits. After August 31, I will have to start paying $1,400/mo. for COBRA so that I can maintain health insurance and care from my physicians.
My insurance also covers my two children and I’m looking to receive enough funds to cover COBRA payments until the end of 2025.
I’m looking for other employment but even being well qualified, I’m just not getting callbacks and it’s making me very nervous. If you would like to help, please do so if you are able. Thank you.
