After miscarrying their second son on March 15th, doctors discovered a large mass on Olivia’s right ovary. After multiple tests, removal surgery, and several biopsies, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 germ cell cancer (stage 3A1(2) Dysgerminoma), which is a rare cancer specific to young adult females.
While the prognosis for survival is good at a glance, there are many devastating
potential effects that come with the chemotherapy treatment for Olivia, including increased time out of work and financial difficulties. Recovery after surgery called for 6 weeks of unpaid medical leave alone; now, coupled with a chemotherapy treatment plan, an additional 9 weeks of unpaid medical leave will be piled onto the already stressed finances for her family.
With copayments and bills rising, any and all donations are appreciated and gratefully accepted to help offset financial hardship during this difficult time.
