Hey y’all, our family has had a devastating last few weeks and could really use your help! 3 days after losing our nanny, my stepdad Kenneth Bailey had a tragic accident while trying to earn extra money to cover our nanny’s final expenses & keep up with their own bills. Kenneth has been well known in Soddy Daisy and surrounding areas for decades as a self employed mechanic. A lot of times helping people with their vehicles when they couldn’t afford to take it to a shop. He literally will give the shirt off his back to anyone he even thought might need it. Going out of his way to help his buddies with their vehicles to fix them up so they could sell them to make money for their families. On June 2, 2025 Kenneth was underneath a big work truck replacing a transmission at one of his long time buddies, Gene H. Although Kenneth checked them several times, the truck ended up popping off the jacks that were supporting the truck and ran over him crushing his chest & Left arm. Gene did everything he could to get the truck off of him as fast as he could & called for an ambulance. My mom rushed to the hospital where she was told they had to rush him off for surgery. He had internal bleeding from a ruptured spleen. So in order to stop the bleeding they had to remove the bottom half of his spleen and replace it with a coil wire. They also had to take a lot of blood clots out of the left side of his stomach. He also has 4 broken ribs and a broken/scapular fracture on his shoulder blade. Kenneth ended up having 4 pints of blood during his stay in the ICU to make up for all the blood he had lost. Kenneth doesn’t have any health insurance so as you can imagine Erlanger literally just got him stable so he didn’t lose his life (super thankful for that), kept him as comfortable as he can be with these types of injuries by pain medication, & monitored him until June 7, 2025 and sent him home. He is now on a very long journey to healing. He is in a lot of pain, so moving around or even breathing/talking takes a lot out of him. So here’s where we need all the help we can get.. those hospital bills are about to start coming in & he’s the lifeline financially for his household. If you know Kenneth, then you know those are worries that began running through his mind the moment he woke from surgery, if not before then on his way to the hospital. However, Kenneth takes pride in taking care of his family and everything without ever asking for help from anyone. I know times are tough on everyone right now, but if you could help with ANY amount at all it would be extremely appreciated so much! We want him to get better as quickly as possible without him having to worry/overwhelm his body about getting back out there working to make money before his body is physically ready.
