Hello everyone, my name is Liz and I’m raising money for my sister Sylmaris.
If you don’t follow me closely on social media, you don’t know that in April, two days after her 32nd birthday, Sylmaris went to the emergency room with what she thought was food poisoning. She was experiencing a lot of fatigue, difficulty breathing, and other symptoms that seemed random. That led to doctors finding liquid in her lungs; they found a non-cancerous cyst in one of her ovaries, and her hemoglobin and platelet levels were low. For weeks, doctors couldn’t find answers to what was causing all these symptoms and why more kept coming up, such as swelling of the feet and face.
To make a very long story somewhat short, she has been in and out of the hospital for two to three months now. Most recently, they had to remove liquid from her lungs, abdominal area, and some near her heart. She developed a rash due to an ingredient in her antibiotic that led to her skin burning as if she was laying in the sun for days, and combined with the liquid, giant blisters that led to doctors having to scrape some of the skin on her legs off. She is now in recovery.
The only answer we have, and not definitive, is that she might have a rare autoimmune disease called TAFRO syndrome. TAFRO syndrome is a severe and rare inflammatory condition characterized by a combination of symptoms: thrombocytopenia (low platelet count), anasarca (swelling due to fluid accumulation), fever, reticulin fibrosis or renal insufficiency, and organomegaly (enlargement of organs). Her doctors are giving her treatment for this disease, but she’s still battling with her levels rising and dropping.
We are praying and believing in a miracle, that God can touch her body and regulate every single organ. We are doing all that we can to support her physically, spiritually, and emotionally, but financially she still needs support. As you can imagine, bills are racking up not only from her stay at the hospital but every test, every blood transfusion, etc. That’s not including paying her rent and any other bill she might have from her day to day.
What are we asking? Please, if you can give a small amount to help her get this treatment and take the financial burden off her shoulders, we would appreciate it. If you can’t, please share and help us also by lifting a prayer over her life. This is not only a physical load, a financial one, but it is also a very big emotional/mental load.
Pray that her albumin levels, platelet levels, and any other levels regulate. Pray that her skin heals quickly and that she is able to start physical therapy. Please pray that the Lord strengthens her mind and spirit with peace and the joy of the Lord. Pray that God will continue to have His hand over her life and finish the work He has already started. THANK YOU. We love and appreciate you!
From a faith-filled sister ❤️
