My colleague Natalia’s husband has cirrhosis and needs treatment in Indonesia.
He recently developed edema in his lower limbs. The damaged liver cells are no longer able to process fluids properly, which leads to fluid build-up and swelling in the legs, abdomen, and other parts of the body.
The treatment should includes diuretic medications, based on a doctor’s prescription, as well as long-term management of the cirrhosis itself.
The costs for the most needed treatment are prohibitive, and we’re looking to defray some of the costs for the family over the next six months.
