As most of you know, I’ve been dealing with right knee pain since I was 12 years old. I had a lateral release surgery in 2014 with hopes to realign my knee cap from maltraction without much success as well as cartilage repair. I’ve gotten numerous injections in hopes to alleviate the chronic pain without success. I’ve had more physical therapy than I can count. I have lost over 140lbs this year in hopes to alleviate so much pressure on my knees and truthfully as much as I feel better mentally and physically, the pain is still severe. I have finally found an awesome doc at sports med that is willing to do what is called a MACI procedure. This involves an initial knee arthroscopy of which I had done 6/3/25 – to get a biopsy of my cartilage (that I have left lol) and with new technology it will harvest in the lab to create new cartilage that can be implanted on my bones and ultimately lead to a brand new knee. This is a very lengthy and invasive surgery and the time I have to be off work post op is astronomical. I will be non weight bearing for atleast 3 months and in a straight leg brace. Afterwards can slowly transition out of the brace with high intensity physical therapy. I am a nurse at a very busy nursing home, so the time I can return to work is unknown at this time depending on how the surgery goes. I unfortunately do not have any PTO/Sick time left at work due to using it all for maternity leave last year. I am the primary source of income for my family so with much ease and embarrassment I am kindly asking for any generous donation you find in your heart to give my son is growing up faster than I can blink and I want to get this surgery done and over with so I can give Lucas the very best active participation of me in his life as he will be our one and only! The cartilage has to harvest for atleast 3 months and my ultimate goal is to get this surgery done as soon as I am financially able.
thank you all so very much, from the very bottom of my heart ❤️
all I have ever wanted was a new knee and I have finally found a doc that will do it with me not being 40+ years old!
