When creating a fundraiser, you’ll enter your name in two places:
- When you set up your Global Fundraiser account: This name will show publicly and can be a nickname or shortened name.
- When you set up your bank transfers: This name will remain private. It must be your legal name and match your ID and bank statement.
If you add a beneficiary to your fundraiser, their account name will also appear on the fundraiser page. This can be a nickname if the beneficiary would prefer. Here are the steps for changing each of these names:

Changing your Global Fundraiser account name
After signing into your Global Fundraiser account, follow these steps to change the name that shows on your fundraising page:
- Select your name at the top right of your screen (If you’re on the Global Fundraiser app, tap the “Me” icon in the bottom right corner.)
- Select “Account settings” from the drop-down menu
- Change your name and click “Save” at the bottom of the screen
Changing your name on bank transfers
After signing into your Global Fundraiser account, follow these steps to edit your bank transfer information:
- Select “Transfers” and click “Edit” next to “Bank account”
- Continue to your payment processor
- Select the information you need to edit (personal details or bank details) and make the needed name change. Be sure to save changes and then return to your Global Fundraiser account.
If your bank account doesn’t use your full legal name as shown on your government issued photo ID, please contact our team for help.
Changing the beneficiary name
If a beneficiary has been added, their name on the fundraiser can’t be hidden, but they can edit the name shown at any time. After the beneficiary signs into their Global Fundraiser account, they can follow these steps to change the name shown on the fundraising page:
- Select your name at the top right of your screen (If you’re on the Global Fundraiser app, tap the “Me” icon in the bottom right corner.)
- Select “Account settings” from the drop-down menu
- Change your name and click “Save” at the bottom of the screen
