Cedric Needs Your Help: Recovery Fund

On April 29, 2025, our lives were forever changed. My husband suffered an intracerebral hemorrhage (bleeding on the brain). The cerebrum is the most delicate part of the brain that controls many of our bodily functions. The stroke has caused him full paralysis on the left side, a severe speech impairment, impaired vision, and short-term memory loss. Due to these deficits, he is currently unable to walk or do any daily activities without assistance.

These past weeks have been quite difficult navigating the mental, physical, and emotional toll this has had on Cedric and myself. We are prayerful that he will have a full recovery. However, this recovery won’t be easy. It will be several weeks, months, or even years before we can regain balance in our lives. With that being said, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

At this point, he has been in recovery at a Rehabilitation Facility and will be heading to a Skilled Nursing Facility that can provide him with the necessary care. Our overall goal is for him to return home to a safe environment that will allow him to recover to his fullest potential. Unfortunately, there are a few factors preventing us from making his transition home successful. They are:

1. Home Improvements

– Our home is not wheelchair accessible or designed for someone with mobility issues. We have lots of stairs. We will need to install ramps, reinforce railings, and upgrade one bathroom to accommodate Cedric’s needs.

2. Home Healthcare & Bariatric Equipment

– Insurance can only do so much. I am currently his sole caregiver. At some point, I will need to return to work and he will need full-time medical care at home.

– For those persons of a larger stature, medical equipment and supplies are not easy to come by. Many things have had to be specialty ordered and are not covered by insurance.

3. Loss of Wages

– In order to pay for the necessary accommodations, we need to maintain a steady income. Cedric will be out of work for an undetermined amount of time. I have been on leave since the incident. However, my leave will end long before this recovery process truly begins. Once my leave is exhausted, we will lose wages, as the road to recovery is very uncertain for stroke patients.

Although monetary gifts are not the only way to support us, we greatly appreciate any level of donation. We know that it is hard for our friends and family to travel to Colorado at this time but also want to help us during this difficult time. We pray this fundraiser (along with our savings) can be the bridge needed to connect all of the pieces for his ongoing recovery.

On behalf of myself, my husband, and our families, WE THANK YOU!!!!
