I will be having an eye surgery called vitrectomy on July 9th to repair a macular hole in the central part of my retina which had caused a blind spot in my central vision. Vitrectomy surgery requires face down positioning 24/7 during an initial recovery period of a week to 10 days or more. Not staying in a face down position could cause failure of the repair.
There are medical equipment companies that rent vitrectomy recovery equipment to help make face down positioning easier to achieve and that help prevent neck and back strain as well as make it possible to sleep completely face down. The equipment is not covered by insurance and as you might imagine, it isn’t cheap. Living on Social Security, I don’t have enough disposable income to cover the cost.
As hard as it is for me to ask for help, I know it is important to the success of my recovery, so I am swallowing my pride and setting up this fundraiser to try and raise the $450 needed for two weeks rental. Any help you could give is very much appreciated. Thank you, Carrie
