Cairo just underwent 3 back-to-back invasive surgeries: a wrist surgery (one year recovery), a hystorectomy (2 month recovery), and – the most invasive (and exciting) of them all – TOP SURGERY! You can imagine they have been fighting years to get this, and it came at a difficult time with the other surgeries.
All of these surgieries require Cairo to put down work for at least 2 months in order to heal properly. Cairo is a freelance artist and producer. Their work requires physical health, and as a contractor, they get no access to disability or paid leave.
Cairo needs your support to recover. My best friend is kind and intentional, tender and reliable, and one of the coolest and creative guys in all of Brooklyn and beyond. They go out of their way to consistently show up for community, and it’s time we show up for Cairo.
Every donation goes directly to Cairo for rent, food, utilities, and medical bills during their healing. This is urgent! Cairo must make rent on July 1st!
