Hi there! I’m Will, also known as Benedick, the Bastard. I’m an arts educator by day, and a drag king… the rest of the time.
I’ve known I was trans since the eighth grade, but life circumstances kept me bouncing in and out of the closet. But in the past four years, I’ve finally been able to embrace my transness and explore what that identity means. I’ve been on testosterone for over two years, despite periods of being uninsured. Because I’m still under 26 and back on my family’s health insurance, I’m finally in a solid place to get top surgery. And with the current political climate, I don’t want to delay any further. Financially, though, I am still struggling.
I currently teach K-8 dance, meaning that the limitations put on me while recovering from surgery means that I am going to be completely out of work.
I’m hoping to raise $5,000 to cover out-of-pockets expenses for the surgery itself, with the remainder covering rent and other necessities for the four-week minimum that I can’t work.
