Hello friends, family, and our amazing community,
My name is Kristina, but most of you know me affectionately as Krissy. This is one of the hardest things I’ve had to write. If you know me, you know I am no stranger to working multiple jobs/businesses and I never ask for help. I take pride in carrying the load. However, pride has no place in this situation, and we are humbly asking for your help.
My daughter Alyviah has been diagnosed with a fast-growing pituitary brain tumor (macroadenoma). For almost 2 years, she has been silently suffering through daily pain, constant fatigue, physical changes and emotional exhaustion, all without answers. About 6 weeks ago, we finally got a diagnosis. While we are relieved to know what’s causing the decline in her health, we have quickly realized the battle has just begun.
Despite doctors confirming the seriousness of the tumor as well as the rapid growth, we have faced unacceptable delays in the Nevada healthcare system. Even though our first choice was not to travel out of state because Alyviah wanted to comfortably recover at home, we have made the difficult decision to go to USC for surgery because the pain and risks of the tumor have become too great for her to bear any longer. Her surgery date is set for Wednesday, June 19th at 5a.m. Again, we are relieved to finally have a date, but the travel adds another layer of stress-emotionally, physically, and financially.
To know Alyviah is to know she’s one of the most kind-hearted, resilient, hardworking, positive people you could ever meet. Her spark lights up every room she enters. A former track star and a true fighter and champion! She has pushed through the pain and struggle with a light heart and smile. recently, this has become so hard, I’ve seen that light we all love, dim. She cries every day now and it’s so tough to see such a warrior so broken.
As a mother I want nothing more than to lift every burden from her. Right now, I need help, doing that. Due to these circumstances, her insurance coverage was abruptly cut, and we are facing a $5000 dollar copay, not including her expenses while she recovers, travel to surgery and lodging out of state.
We are not struggling in life, and we have always worked extremely hard- but this happened faster and hit harder than we could prepare for. We have kept this pretty private until now, but I know our village is strong. I’m praying that if you’re able, you can be a part of helping Alyviah heal.
Every donation, every share, even kind words and especially your heartfelt prayers help! I am inviting you to walk beside Alyviah in one of the hardest moments of her life. Thank you in advance for showing up when we need it most.
With love and the deepest gratitude,
Kristina, (and Alyviah)
