On 6/9/2025 at 12:56 pm, my daughter Destiny Bear gave birth to her daughter Selene. Destiny was admitted on 6/8/2025 for preterm labor.
Once admitted, they did an ultrasound and found that the baby had no amniotic fluid. Although contractions stopped on their own, the baby was found to be in extreme distress. Destiny’s on-call OB, as well as the Memorial NICU doctors, found it to be in the baby’s best interest to come via C-section immediately. Thankfully, I was allowed to be beside Destiny for her emergency C-section. After just 11 minutes in the OR, we welcomed our precious little Selene. Due to no amniotic fluid, her lungs were unable to develop as needed. Selene’s cord was also wrapped around her neck. The doctor explained that earlier when Destiny was having contractions, due to having no amniotic fluid, the contractions were putting pressure on Selene that could have been fatal.
By the grace of our God, she’s here and stable. She was instantly on oxygen through a breathing tube, a feeding tube, and IVs. Selene is now just a couple of days old and has been thriving.
- Due to Selene not being due for another month, we weren’t completely prepared for her arrival. And Destiny was working but cannot work for at least 6 weeks.
If anyone could help with monetary donations to help Destiny get blankets, clothing, a baby bed, a swing, bottles, to pay rent, and electric as well as expenses related to traveling back and forth to be with Selene and also home to see her 3-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter, it would be God-sent.
Your help will have such a positive impact on our family while helping us secure everything Destiny and Selene need.
