Hi, I’m Marianne McDonald, Annica’s (Annie) mom. On Sunday, June first, Annie was in a life-changing car accident. She was lucky to walk away with her life, and we are very grateful God had more for her to do in life. Annie suffered serious damage to her right leg. They were able to save her foot, but she cannot even put weight on it for 8 weeks. Her left ankle is also broken. Due to the trauma and mostly being bedridden for some time, she is on blood thinners to reduce the risk of stroke and pulmonary embolisms, which are life-threatening. Annie now requires round-the-clock care at home. I tried to have insurance in place to avoid having to ask for outside help, but unfortunately, her being disabled and needing at-home care from me wasn’t covered. I was eligible for leave from work, but it’s unpaid. We also have many medical bills outside of insurance coverage and other costs, including replacing my vehicle, that were unexpected to come all at once. As I eat my humble pie (this coming from a very independent woman), I ask for help so I can be home with her to care for her. Everyone’s support has been unfathomable so far. I appreciate each and every one of you, and so does Annica.
