Hi, my name is Lili. My husband Brayan had an accident on May 24, 2025, that crushed his lower left arm and hand. This has impacted our lives enormously, sending us into a complete whirlwind of uncertainty. His arm has been reconstructed with titanium plates and screws that will remain there permanently. He has multiple fractures on his wrist, loss of muscle, tissue, nerves, blood vessels, and a large amount of lost skin. On June 12, he will be undergoing surgery once again, a surgery in which they will be removing muscle, fat, nerves, and blood vessels from his back to insert into his arm. If that procedure is successful, about a week and a half after, he will be going back into the OR for another surgery, in which they will be taking skin from his thigh to cover the injuries on his arm. Recovery from the previous 4 surgeries and these upcoming ones will be tough and long, but we are confident that Brayan will come out strong!
The accident happened while he was serving as a volunteer at a Christian camp. Brayan has been the sole “breadwinner” in our home for the most part, which has placed us in a very vulnerable situation economically. As I navigate through job hunting myself, it is clear we need all the help we can get. It is not easy for us to ask for help, but friends and family encouraged us to take this step. Our immediate need, and what we would be using any and all funds for, will be in purchasing an RV, so that we may have a permanent residence not that far from the hospital; also for any needs that our girls may have, simply anything that an entire move implies.
We were already in the process of moving to San Diego when the accident occurred, but this has definitely put us in “full speed mode,” while setting us completely back monetarily. You might ask yourself, “why an RV?”: that would be because after long thought, consideration, and prayer, we came to the conclusion that it is the most convenient and “realistic” option for us as a family. San Diego rent prices are pretty steep, and since I will be the only one able to work for quite a bit of time, we need to have the certainty that I will be able to cover all expenses in the months to come with my sole salary. The injuries he has sustained are enormous; he will be undergoing 2 more major surgeries (apart from 4 interventions he has already had).
Doctors still cannot determine what amount of mobility and function, if at all, he will regain. That means so many different things for us as a family… For Brayan, this represents not being able to provide for us as he always has; it means not being able to play the guitar and worship; it simply changes our entire world. Brayan is a 35-year-old father to our 3 beautiful girls, a loving husband and son, a musician (guitarist), and worshipper.
Brayan is extremely grateful and feeling blessed, just with the fact that God worked miracles through the doctor’s hands who were able to save his arm and hand. We still don’t fully understand what God wants to show or teach us through these difficult times, but our faith and hope in God is and will not be broken. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any and all support, may it be monetary or through the strength of prayer.
