Hi, my name is Sophie, and I’m fundraising for my sister-in-law,
Krista, a 37-year-old mother of three whose life—and our family’s—was forever changed by a devastating medical emergency.
Krista was at work in the hospital when she suddenly collapsed without warning. She had gone into ventricular fibrillation—a life-threatening heart rhythm—causing her heart to stop for over 12 minutes. By a miracle, the Emergency Department was just down the hall. The medical team responded immediately, performing CPR and bringing her back to life.
But the crisis didn’t end there. As a result of the trauma, she also suffered a stroke. She was life-flighted to a trauma center, and since then, she’s been fighting an incredibly tough and uncertain road to recovery—one day at a time.
Doctors have now confirmed that this likely stems from Brugada Syndrome, a rare but deadly genetic heart condition. Her mother also lives with Brugada, and there is a troubling history of sudden cardiac deaths on her father’s side as well.
This terrifying experience has shaken our family to the core—emotionally, physically, and financially.
Her husband—my brother—has had to put his business on hold to care for her full-time and manage the household, all while raising their three young children. With Krista unable to work and her FMLA almost exhausted, the medical bills and daily living expenses are piling up fast.
We are asking for help from our friends, family, community, and anyone moved by Krista’s story.
Your donation will help cover:
• Ongoing hospital and medical bills
• Stroke rehabilitation and therapy
• In-home care and mobility support
• Childcare and household expenses
• Lost income during her recovery
Krista is a loving mother, wife, sister, and daughter. She has always been the one to care for others. Now, we are humbly asking for help in caring for her.
If you’re unable to give financially, please consider sharing this page with others. Every share, prayer, and kind word means the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your support during this unimaginably hard time.
With gratitude,
Sophie & Krista’s Family
