Giovanna is a grandmother who adopted her two granddaughters ages nine and twelve. In May she was hospitalized with RSV, Bronchitis and Pneumonia. In June she was hospitalized again and has spent the last week in the Pulmonary Care ward of Carle Hospital. She has been diagnosed with Flash Pulmonary Edema. Her condition is characterized by fluid collecting in the lungs, bleeding in the lungs and a lower blood oxygen level. When released from the hospital Giovanna is expected to have at least two weeks of rehabilitation and beyond medical bills she will need assistance around the house.
Giovanna gives so much to her community. She started Silver Hearts to address the rising violence in her neighborhood by building community through events such as Ice Crea Socials, Block Parties and Halloween Costume Drives. She has given so much sometimes to her own detriment and it is time to repay her kindness.
