Story for fundraiser – “Merve’s Last Chance Against SMA”
This is Merve. She is a brave, beautiful little girl fighting a deadly illness — Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
SMA is a rare and progressive genetic disease that weakens the muscles used for walking, eating, and breathing. Without urgent treatment, Merve’s condition will continue to worsen.
In Turkey, the treatment Merve desperately needs is extremely expensive and unfortunately not covered by public healthcare. After exhausting all possible options, her family has one final hope: a life-saving treatment in France.
A specialized clinic in France has accepted Merve, and an emergency medical flight is being arranged to get her there. But the costs are overwhelming: the flight, hospital admission, and medication together amount to tens of thousands of euros.
