My name is Brian Munyawarara, and I am the founder of Grace Life Foundation, a social impact organization dedicated to sustainable, community-based transformation across Africa.
Through our Care for a Soul Program, we are launching a critical project:
The construction and equipping of a new maternity ward at Concession District Hospital in rural Zimbabwe. Concession District Hospital is one of the main healthcare facility serving thousands of women and families in Mashonaland Central province. Today, its maternity ward is overwhelmed. Women are giving birth:
In overcrowded rooms, With inadequate equipment, Sometimes sharing beds postpartum, and Often being discharged too early due to lack of space. This is not just inconvenient it is life-threatening. Zimbabwe’s maternal mortality rate stands at 363 deaths per 100,000 live births which is one of the highest outside conflict zones. The World Health Organization recommends at least 2.5 beds per 1,000 people. In many Zimbabwean district hospitals, that number is under 1.2. Every day, approximately 800 women globally die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth 94% of them in low-resource settings
We’re here to change that starting with Concession.
The Campaign:
To raise funds and awareness, I have teamed up with four close friends to climb Mount Kilimanjaro Africa’s tallest mountain, standing at 5,895 meters above sea level.
We’ve symbolically linked our fundraising goal to the climb:
5 Climbers x 5,895 Meters = $29,475
Each meter represents a dollar. Each dollar brings us closer to a maternity ward that will serve hundreds of women annually with dignity, safety, and care.
What Your Donation Will Fund
100% of donations will go directly to:
Construction of a dedicated maternity ward block
Procurement of maternity beds, monitoring equipment, and postnatal supplies
Sanitation upgrades including plumbing, waste disposal, and water access
Safety features and medical furnishings needed for quality maternal care
This ward will double the hospital’s birthing capacity, reduce wait times, and prevent avoidable deaths of both mothers and newborns.
How You Can Help ?
Give what you can No amount is too small. Share this campaign with your network every share multiplies impact. Encourage the climbers with a note of support we’ll carry your words up the mountain.
For us, this mountain is symbolic. It represents the steep, uphill battle that many women face just to bring life into the world. But unlike childbirth in rural Zimbabwe, our summit ends in celebration not tragedy. Help us change the story. Help us build the maternity ward. Help us care for a soul.
