On May 22, I woke with horrible pain in my shoulder, neck, and back. I thought with time it would resolve, and I cared for it the best I knew how. Speed up through several doctor’s appointments, trying physical therapy at two locations, and weeks of managing pain to the last resort and decision to have surgery to have the herniated disc that is pushing on my spinal cord in my neck replaced on July 2nd.
For the past 4 weeks, I have missed out on much of life and some really important events, as well as seeing my beloved clients in my therapy practice. The weight of this all is starting to really sink in and we are seeking some help from those we know care for us. I will be out of work for a total of 10-12 weeks, and as an independent contractor, I do not have the ability to take a paid leave of absence. Along with the increased medical costs, the absence of my income will be another challenge for us. As I work to bridge care for my clients there is the possibility they may find other care and I will be rebuilding parts of my practice late this summer and into the fall. This is deeply sad for me as well as an added stress. I do know it will be okay and we will recover from this in every way so I am holding both the hard and the hope.
We could use some support in this season. I have multiple dietary needs so we have decided to forgo a meal train plan but could use funds towards getting some easy meals to alleviate all that goes into making every meal at home work, as well as some funds towards bridging the gap of my income loss, our household expenses, and increased medical costs.
It is emotional to be in the position and taking the risk to be honest with where we are at while holding hope for support and healing.
With immense gratitude and hope,
Kacie, Chris, Maya & Miles
