Hi my name is Shannon, In 2024 I started seeing a new dentist after having a very bad experience with my previous dentist including but not limited to an infection from a bone implant after my jawbone was cracked while trying to fix a dry socket issue. I was having severe pain in one of my top incisors, so a trip to the dentist to alleviate the pain ended with me getting a root canal, but also a list of all the other work I needed done totaling over $6,000. After several visits, more root canals and three bridges along the top of my mouth the new dentist referred me to an orthodontist stating that he seemed to be causing me more pain and that maybe I had nerve damage. After paying even more money to go see the specialist, they told me that I did not have nerve damage and I should go back to my dentist. At this point, my jaw had began to hurt terribly, to the point that it was a struggle to open my mouth, let alone speak or eat. My new dentist told me that I had developed TMJ, despite not having many of the symptoms associated with TMJ, and referred me to another dentist that provided Botox injections for people with TMJ to help relieve some of the tension in the muscles surrounding my jaw. I have done three rounds of Botox for yet another $2,700, which has helped at least for the 3 months before it’s time for another injection. After discussing the issues I was having with my primary dentist, the dentist giving the botox recommended that I make an appointment with UT Health Dentistry. At UT Health I am going through different phases. Phase 1 consisted of an appointment for them to examine my mouth and determine what was wrong with me. During their examination they determined that my gums were inflamed and, surprise of all surprises, the three bridges that the. previous dentist had placed were all installed crooked causing my jawbone to shift resulting in my terrible jaw pain. I went into UT Health Dentistry for phase 2, six hours in a room with mirrors and cameras in my mouth, and making a mold of all my teeth, and another $600. When UT Dentistry got the results from their testing I had an appointment last week to discuss the rest of the pricing for all the work it’s going to take to reverse the damage my previous dentist has caused. Which brings me to phase 3 beginning the actual work which comes with a whopping $17,000 price tag, I know times are hard for everyone right now but if you don’t ask you’ll never know. So this is me asking for any help you can give. I know ultimately Jesus will provide a way, but I am humbly asking for some human blessings as well. Anything you can share would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
