Hi everyone,
My name is Nicole, and I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request. I’m raising funds to help my beloved dog, Freya, become a certified Psychiatric Service Dog.
Meet Freya
Freya is 86 pounds of pure love and loyalty. She’s my Velcro dog—never more than a few feet away—and her happiest moments are when she’s by my side. When she’s not acting as my unofficial therapist, she enjoys long walks, splashing in creeks, playing with her brother Butch, and occasionally snuggling with our cat (who she has a very complicated relationship with!).
Why I Need Your Help
I’ve struggled with mental health challenges for most of my life. Diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and major depressive disorder at 22, it took nearly two decades to find the right treatment combination to keep me stable.
Then, two years ago, everything changed. I survived a life-threatening case of sepsis—and while I’m grateful to be alive, the aftermath has been overwhelming. I was diagnosed with Post-Sepsis Syndrome (PSS), a condition that causes long-term fatigue, memory problems, depression, anxiety, and even PTSD. As someone with Type 2 Diabetes and a history of mental health conditions, the impact of PSS has been especially hard.
My anxiety is now at an all-time high. I’ve experienced panic attacks in public, and it’s becoming harder to manage without specialized support. Freya already has an amazing natural ability to sense when something’s wrong—she comforts me during episodes by simply being present. With proper training, she can do so much more: help interrupt panic attacks, remind me to take medication, perform deep pressure therapy, and be a true medical companion.
How You Can Help
Training a Psychiatric Service Dog is intensive and costly, involving specialized instruction, time, and certification. Every dollar raised will go directly toward Freya’s training, giving her the skills to support me in daily life and help me reclaim my independence and peace of mind.
Whether it’s $5 or $50, every contribution helps—and I can’t thank you enough for your kindness, generosity, and support. Even just sharing this campaign would mean the world.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
With love and gratitude,
Nicole & Freya
